Michoacán legislators advance migrant and rare‑disease assistance measures

State deputy Xóchitl Ruiz González called for dignified treatment of migrants returning to Michoacán, urging federal immigration authorities to apply legal, respectful and protective standards. She promoted the creation of the "Michoacán te Abraza" council to coordinate state, business and migrant organization efforts, and supported establishing a Migrant Integral Assistance Center at entry points to offer legal advice, information and job‑placement incentives.

Deputy Teresita Herrera Maldonado introduced a reform to the state’s Social Assistance Law to include people with rare diseases as a protected category. The amendment would grant them comprehensive health and social services, including counseling, rehabilitation, psychological aid and coordinated support with health agencies and civil‑society groups, aiming to serve the estimated eight million Mexicans affected by rare conditions.
