Mexico implements national housing and healthcare expansion programs

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo met with governors and municipal leaders at Palacio Nacional to coordinate the Vivienda para el Bienestar program and the modernization of the IMSS-Bienestar healthcare system. The federal housing strategy aims to construct 1.8 million homes during the current six-year term to benefit approximately 12 million people.

Specific regional targets include 84,000 homes for Tamaulipas, 80,000 for Baja California, 70,000 for Chiapas, 68,950 for Puebla, and 50,890 for Guerrero. In Zacatecas, the goal is set at 27,502 homes, while Baja California Sur seeks to accelerate projects through administrative simplification.

Regarding healthcare, the IMSS-Bienestar system, which includes 24 Mexican states, is undergoing modernization to expand free medical services for populations without social security. Leaders from states such as San Luis Potosí, Sonora, and Tlaxcala discussed improving hospital infrastructure, medical equipment, and increasing the number of clinics to ensure universal coverage.

In Mexico City, Governor Clara Brugada presented a new initiative for fair rents, proposing that rent increases cannot exceed the previous year's inflation. The plan includes a digital registry for rental properties and the creation of a Tenant Defense Office to provide free mediation and legal guidance.
