Michoacán pushes agroindustrial growth as leaders rally against insecurity

Carlos Torres Piña, a candidate for state coordination of Defense of Transformation and Sovereignty, said that agroindustrialisation is essential to turn Michoacán’s strong agricultural output—avocado, mango, berries, banana and lime—into added‑value jobs and local wealth. He warned that while the state leads national production, most of the products are shipped raw and profits are earned elsewhere, leaving families without greater opportunities. Torres Piña linked the need for industry to broader concerns about security, support for farming and livestock, and the development of small‑ and medium‑size enterprises.

At the same time, AMA Michoacán gathered thousands of residents in Pátzcuaro. Organized by Alfonso Martínez Alcázar, the rally emphasized peace, development and the necessity of confronting insecurity and the lack of rule of law. Participants praised Martínez’s leadership and called for collective love for the state as a force to overcome fear, urging authorities and citizens to work together for Michoacán’s future.
