Michoacán universities partner with state agencies to expand urban planning and sustainable agriculture training

On 14 March 2025, the Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Zamora hosted a theoretical‑practical Territorial Development workshop led by staff from the Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano y Movilidad (SEDUM) of Michoacán. The event aimed to introduce architecture students to urban planning and land‑use regulation, guiding them through secondary zoning, project portfolios for metropolitan areas, and analysis of soil‑use compatibility using the SITUM platform.

The Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Michoacán (Cecytem) announced an open admission drive for a new technical degree in Soils and Fertilizers, offered at campuses in Peribán, Tancítaro, Colola and Huecorio. The program focuses on chemical soil analysis, advanced crop nutrition, and sustainable production techniques, and includes a strategic partnership with the Secretaría de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural to connect students with local producers and experts.

Both initiatives reflect a coordinated effort by Michoacán’s higher‑education institutions and state agencies to strengthen professional training in urban development and agricultural sustainability.
