Mick Gordon expresses interest in returning to Doom series

Composer Mick Gordon has expressed interest in returning to the Doom series for future installments, stating he would do so ‘within a heartbeat’ if the right conditions are met. Speaking at PAX Australia, Gordon noted that ‘hundreds of dominoes would have to fall into place’ for a return to occur, though he did not specify the exact requirements.

This potential return follows a highly publicized dispute in 2022, during which Gordon accused id Software of failing to pay him for half of his work on the Doom Eternal soundtrack and cited abusive behavior from executive producer Marty Stratton. Despite these past conflicts, Gordon indicated he still has creative ideas for the franchise.

The comments come amid broader changes at id Software, which was impacted by Microsoft’s cuts to its Xbox business, resulting in 136 staff layoffs in July.
