Mick Jagger’s Advice Keeps Duran Duran United

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger intervened with Duran Duran in 1985, when the band was divided between the side projects Arcadia and The Power Station. In an interview with The Independent, keyboardist Nick Rhodes recalled that Jagger pulled him aside and urged, “You really need to stick together – that’s your future.”

Rhodes says the counsel proved decisive; the group avoided a breakup and has continued to record and tour, now approaching its 50th anniversary. He also reflected on other influences in his career, including David Bowie, Andy Warhol and Princess Diana, but highlighted Jagger’s timely encouragement as a turning point that helped preserve the band’s legacy.
