Mick Schumacher advances to IndyCar Q2 for first time on non-oval track
Mick Schumacher achieved a career milestone during IndyCar qualifying in Markham, advancing to the Q2 session for the first time on a non-oval track. Although he finished fourth in the second qualifying group, a penalty against Alexander Rossi moved Schumacher up to a tenth-place starting position for the race.
The qualifying session was marked by significant disruption, including spins by Will Power and Josef Newgarden, as well as a red flag triggered by Alex Palou. Schumacher also faced technical delays due to a loose tire and a timing error by his team during his timed lap.
The IndyCar series is now scheduled to hold its fifteenth Grand Prix at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. This event marks the series' premiere on the streets of Washington D.C., taking place near the Capitol.
