Mick Schumacher leads RLL drivers in IndyCar Washington D.C. practice
Mick Schumacher participated in the first free practice session for the IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington D.C. Driving for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL-Honda), Schumacher finished 21st. Despite the lower ranking, he was the fastest RLL driver during the session, outperforming teammates Graham Rahal and Louis Foster.
The practice session was impacted by wet track conditions. Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti-Honda led the session with a fastest lap of 57.374 seconds, followed by championship leader Alex Palou. The event marks a unique street circuit race in the U.S. capital as part of the 2026 season.
Several incidents occurred during the session, including Christian Lundgaard hitting a wall due to a faulty control arm, and wall contact for drivers Will Power and Romain Grosjean.
