Mickie James reveals near-departure from wrestling before WWE debut

Professional wrestler Mickie James revealed that she nearly quit the industry before making her WWE main roster debut in October 2005. During her time in developmental at OVW, James experienced significant doubt after watching peers move to television while she remained in training.

James noted that at the time, the company appeared to be prioritizing 'divas' over trained wrestlers, leading her to question if she was the right fit for the organization. She even attempted acting and modeling classes to better align with the perceived requirements of the era.

Her career trajectory changed with the creation of her character as an obsessed fan of Trish Stratus. This storyline, which James developed to help her stand out, was embraced by Stratus and ultimately launched her into a prominent role on the main roster.
