Mickoski and Janša discuss EU integration and cooperation

North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski met with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša in New York to discuss Macedonia’s European integration and the strengthening of political and economic ties between the two nations.

Mickoski emphasized that the country’s path toward the European Union should be based on merit, fulfilled criteria, and tangible results rather than new bilateral conditions unrelated to European values. He stated that North Macedonia is not seeking privileges or a shortcut, but rather a “fair and predictable process” where its progress is valued and the nation is respected as a partner.

The leaders also addressed current geopolitical and security challenges within Europe and the region. Mickoski identified Slovenia as a long-standing friend and an important partner within both the EU and NATO, expressing a desire to translate this friendship into increased economic cooperation, investment, and concrete projects to benefit both citizens and economies.
