Micky Maus Magazin celebrates 75th anniversary
The German publisher Egmont Ehapa Media is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the German-language ‘Micky Maus Magazin’. To mark the milestone, the publisher is releasing a special anniversary edition and opening a comic pop-up store in Bikini Berlin for four weeks.
Since its debut on August 29, 1951, the magazine has sold over 1.3 billion copies in German-speaking regions. Originally launched as a monthly color magazine with a circulation of 300,000, it has evolved into a bi-weekly publication. The magazine played a significant role in the history of German comics, overcoming early social stigmas regarding the medium.
Key historical figures include editor-in-chief Erika Fuchs, who shaped the German Disney comic language with her witty style. The pop-up store will feature interactive activities and live drawing sessions with Disney artists Ulrich Schröder and Flemming Andersen.
