Micro-practices can improve mood and reduce stress
Psychologist Eli Sussman describes a concept known as ‘micro-practices’—brief exercises lasting only a few seconds that can be easily integrated between daily tasks to interrupt stress and improve mood.
One recommended practice is intentional smiling. Even if not initially spontaneous, simulated laughter may be linked to improved mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression. Another effective method is brief physical stretching. For those spending long periods sitting at a desk, taking a few seconds to stretch the neck, shoulders, and back can help break sedentary patterns and alleviate physical tension.
