Microchip Technology to acquire Hailo, expanding edge AI and vision processor portfolio

Microchip Technology Incorporated announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hailo, an Israeli developer of accelerated edge AI processors and advanced vision processing solutions. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the current quarter, on September 30, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is not expected to have a material impact on Microchip’s results.

The acquisition adds Hailo’s AI accelerators and vision system‑on‑chip products—including the Hailo‑8, Hailo‑10 and Hailo‑15—to Microchip’s portfolio, supporting workloads such as CNNs, transformers, large language and vision models, image‑signal processing, DSP and video encoding. It also brings over 100 existing customers and a developer community of more than 10,000 users. “The acquisition of Hailo accelerates Microchip’s expansion into high‑performance edge AI processing,” said Mark Reiten, Senior Corporate Vice President.

The combined offering aims to strengthen Microchip’s ability to deliver power‑efficient AI solutions for robotics, drones, smart cameras, industrial automation and other intelligent edge applications.
