Microduck robots see 20,000 preorders after Nvidia CEO demo

Following a demonstration by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at the GTC Berlin conference, preorders for the Microduck robot have surpassed 20,000 units. The small, open-source robotic duck, produced by Pollen Robotics (a subsidiary of Hugging Face), gained viral attention after Huang interacted with the devices on stage, showcasing their ability to walk, sit, and perform somersaults via voice commands.

The Microduck is a 25-centimeter-tall, 800-gram device equipped with 15 motors, a camera, a depth sensor, and an articulated beak. Its software is open-source, allowing users to train new movements in simulated environments and share them with the community. The training process utilizes Nvidia’s technology stack, where AI agents develop movement models in virtual simulations before they are transferred to the physical hardware.

Retailing at $399, the Microduck is positioned as a programmable desk robot for hobbyists, students, and researchers rather than a traditional household assistant. Deliveries are expected to begin before the 2026 Christmas season.
