Micromax Informatics has launched a family office with a corpus of INR 250 crore (approximately $26 million) to support deep-tech startups in India and global markets. The initiative targets companies from the pre-Series A to Series B stages that are developing scalable intellectual property and differentiated technologies.
The investment focus includes several high-growth sectors: artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defence technology, space technology, and robotics. According to investment head Aakil Garg, the family office intends to issue average cheque sizes ranging from INR 10 crore to INR 20 crore.
In addition to financial capital, Micromax aims to provide portfolio companies with access to its broader industrial ecosystem. This includes manufacturing expertise through Bhagwati Products and semiconductor technology networks via MiPhi Semiconductors, which maintains a joint venture with Phison Electronics. Co-founder Rahul Sharma stated the goal is to empower founders with the resources and industry expertise necessary to transform breakthrough ideas into sustainable businesses.
