Micron Technology stock dips as memory boom drives investor reshuffling
Micron Technology’s shares have retreated after a year of explosive gains fueled by an AI‑driven memory shortage, with the stock down 24% in the past month while rival Sandisk fell 38%. The surge in demand has pushed memory‑chip prices six‑fold, and analysts expect the supply crunch to persist beyond 2030.
During the same period, several institutional investors altered their positions in semiconductor equities. Weiss Asset Management increased its Rambus stake, while Absolute Gestao de Investimentos Ltda. bought 8,500 Micron shares valued at roughly $2.9 million. Other funds such as Norges Bank, AQR Capital and Vanguard also expanded holdings in Micron. Technical analysts note that Micron’s price is now testing key Fibonacci support levels around $950‑$900, with a downside target of $520 if the stock breaks below $808.
Micron has also secured long‑term customer agreements, boosting its remaining performance obligations to $100 billion by June, underscoring the company’s effort to lock in memory supply for automotive and data‑center customers.
