Microplastics linked to potential Alzheimer's risk

Scientific research is increasingly investigating the potential link between microplastic exposure and neurodegenerative diseases, specifically Alzheimer's. Studies suggest that these tiny synthetic polymer particles may be capable of bypassing the blood-brain barrier, a physiological defense mechanism designed to protect the central nervous system from toxins and pathogens.

Once these particles penetrate the barrier, they can enter sensitive brain tissue directly. Researchers are examining whether this accumulation of microplastics contributes to the degenerative processes associated with Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions.
