Microsoft adds live SAP and Oracle connections to Excel Copilot

Microsoft announced major enhancements to its Copilot AI assistant in Excel on 25‑26 June 2026. The update lets users access enterprise‑resource‑planning data from SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Dynamics 365, Workday and other ERP systems directly within Excel without manual export, aiming to cut the roughly 60 % of finance‑team time spent on data preparation.

The rollout also introduces reusable “Skills,” AI‑driven workflow modules stored in OneDrive or SharePoint that can be shared across teams for repetitive tasks such as data cleaning, report generation and dashboard building. New audit‑trail features – “Plan with Copilot” and “Show Changes” – record each command, timestamp and change, enhancing compliance for financial reporting.

Microsoft expanded the range of external data providers available in Excel, adding sources such as FactSet, Morningstar, PitchBook, S&P Global, CB Insights and Daloopa, while retaining existing links to LSEG and Moody’s. Additional capabilities include Monte‑Carlo risk analysis and integrated market data, positioning Excel as a central hub for both internal and external financial analysis.
