Microsoft and Meta Accelerate AI Infrastructure Investments
Microsoft has launched a dedicated AI deployment company, capitalized at $2.5 billion, to take enterprise clients from AI aspiration to production. The new unit will handle implementation end‑to‑end, putting Microsoft in direct competition with traditional systems integrators such as Accenture, Infosys, Wipro and Deloitte, as well as Amazon Web Services.
Meta announced that its 2026 AI infrastructure budget has risen to between $125 billion and $145 billion, up from earlier plans. The company is exploring ways to rent out raw computing power and host AI models for external customers, positioning itself against the likes of AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. To support this scale, Meta has signed long‑term nuclear‑power contracts for more than 2.1 GW and is expanding its chip strategy with Nvidia GPUs and its own MTIA accelerator.
Both moves signal a deepening of the tech giants' involvement in AI infrastructure, with potential ripple effects across the cloud services market and the consulting sector.
