Microsoft and Micron show strong financial growth amid tech spending
Major technology firms are showing divergent financial trajectories regarding infrastructure investment and profitability. Microsoft reported a strong fiscal 2026, with revenue reaching $331.8 billion and net income rising 31% to $133.7 billion. In comparison, Amazon reported a $7.6 billion outflow in free cash flow for the twelve months ending June 30, 2026, as it invests heavily in capacity. Microsoft generated approximately $67 billion after cash purchases of property and equipment during that same period.
Micron Technology is experiencing significant growth driven by rising memory prices. While its fiscal 2025 net income was $8.5 billion, management has guided to approximately $35 billion in profit for the fiscal fourth quarter of 2026. This surge is attributed to high average selling prices for DRAM, which rose in the low-60% range, even as shipment volumes saw only single-digit increases.
