Microsoft and NVIDIA to unveil Local AI PC hardware in October

Microsoft has announced a special Windows and Surface event to be held in San Francisco on October 7, 2026. The event, themed “How Local AI will reshape the next chapter of the PC,” will feature Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.

A central focus of the event is expected to be NVIDIA’s new “RTX Spark” architecture. This high-performance system-on-a-chip (SoC) integrates an Arm-based Grace CPU with a Blackwell-architecture RTX GPU. Utilizing NVLink-C2C interconnect technology and a unified memory architecture, the platform can support up to 128GB of LPDDR5X memory, enabling the local execution of AI models with up to 120 billion parameters.

Microsoft is expected to reveal details regarding the Surface Laptop Ultra, a flagship device designed to showcase this new architecture. While industry speculation regarding a new Windows operating system remains low, the event is anticipated to focus on optimizing system-level scheduling and memory management to support heavy local AI workloads.
