Microsoft announces Windows support end dates in October 2026
Microsoft has announced that the OneDrive Sync client for Windows 10 version 22H1 and earlier will reach end of support on 15 August 2026. After that date the client will receive no further updates, security patches, or new features, and users will need to upgrade to Windows 10 22H2 (supported until 10 October 2028) or to Windows 11 to continue receiving updates.
In a related notice, Microsoft also stated that Windows 11 24H2 (Home and Pro) and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 will cease receiving security updates on 13 October 2026. The company issued a 90‑day reminder, warning that systems left on these versions will become vulnerable. Enterprise and Education editions of Windows 11 24H2 enjoy an extra year of support until 12 October 2027, while the recommended path for the LTSB 2016 line is migration to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2024 or purchase of extended security updates.
