Microsoft declines to compete with Apple’s MacBook Neo
Microsoft has indicated that its Surface line will not directly compete with Apple’s budget-friendly MacBook Neo. Brett Ostrum, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Surface, stated that the company does not feel the need to “play in every field,” noting that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are well-positioned to serve the low-cost segment.
Apple’s MacBook Neo, which starts at £699, is designed as an affordable option for students, featuring an A18 Pro chip, 8GB of RAM, and up to 16 hours of battery life. While Microsoft intends to let partners handle the entry-level market, retail opportunities such as trade-in deals at Very in the UK could potentially cover the full cost of the device for some consumers.
