Microsoft develops new backup and recovery feature for Teams

Microsoft is developing a new backup and recovery feature for Microsoft Teams to assist administrators during emergencies or accidental data loss. According to Microsoft’s ‘AI at Work’ roadmap, the function will allow for the restoration of entire teams as well as individual standard, private, and public channels.

The planned feature aims to simplify the current complex process of recovering chats, files, and other channel-related data. Microsoft intends to offer a 30-day retention period for the backed-up data. While specific details regarding the user interface and the selection of restoration points remain undisclosed, the tool is expected to provide a more streamlined alternative to using the Teams API or SharePoint functions for data recovery.
