Microsoft enables taskbar repositioning and resizing in Windows 11
Following updates released in late 2026, Windows 11 users can once again reposition the taskbar to the top, left, or right sides of the screen, a feature that had been restricted to the bottom edge since the operating system's launch.
In addition to repositioning, a ‘small taskbar’ feature has been introduced, allowing users to reduce the height of the taskbar and its icons. These changes are being rolled out via specific update packages, including KB5124008 for versions 24H2 and 25H2.
Users can adjust these settings through the Personalization menu in the Settings app under the Taskbar section. However, certain functionalities may be limited when the taskbar is moved from its default bottom position. The rollout is being managed via Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR), meaning the options may not appear immediately for all users even after updates are applied.
