Lars Klingbeil sustains serious knee injury during cycling
SPD Chairman Lars Klingbeil has sustained a serious knee injury during a road cycling training session. The injury, which involves a torn cruciate ligament and a partially torn medial ligament in his right knee, occurred after he fell over a stone in a forest.
Klingbeil appeared at the Bundestag during a general debate wearing a supportive brace. While the injury will prevent him from participating in sports for several weeks, a spokesperson indicated that surgery is not currently required and the injury is expected to heal with the use of the brace.
