Microsoft expands Copilot AI integration across Azure and Dynamics 365

Microsoft is expanding its Copilot AI capabilities across its cloud and business platforms, introducing nuances in how data is processed and managed. In Dynamics 365 Business Central, users should note that the location where AI processes prompts (Azure OpenAI geography) may differ from where the environment database is physically stored (Azure region for data residency).

When Copilot features are triggered in Business Central, prompts and generated outputs may move across geographies for inference. While this data is not used to train Azure OpenAI foundation models, administrators can manage this via the ‘Allow data movement’ toggle. Since update 25.0, this feature is enabled by default to ensure functionality.

Additionally, a proposal for Azure Operations Copilot in Microsoft Teams aims to centralize cloud management. The tool would allow administrators to monitor resources, investigate alerts, and review security or cost information through a single conversational interface in Teams, rather than navigating multiple separate services like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
