Microsoft expands Windows on Arm ecosystem with NVIDIA partnership

Microsoft has announced significant progress for its Windows on Arm platform, stating it has evolved into a first-class ecosystem capable of handling diverse workloads. The company highlighted growing demand for high-performance, high-efficiency devices among consumers.

A major development includes NVIDIA joining the Windows on Arm lineup later this year with the RTX Spark SoC. This addition, alongside the Qualcomm Snapdragon X platform, is expected to strengthen the ecosystem. Major OEMs, including Microsoft Surface, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and MSI, are slated to release devices featuring RTX Spark by autumn 2026.

Currently, over 7,000 apps are compatible with Windows on Arm, as tracked by the ‘Works on WOA’ website. These include applications for STEM, education, security, productivity, and entertainment. For software without native Arm versions, the Windows Prism emulation layer allows for continued functionality, with performance optimizations bringing the experience closer to native execution.
