Microsoft expands Xbox App with Windows 11 Xbox 360 emulator integration
Microsoft offers a free Xbox app for Windows 11 and Windows 10 that lets users install games, manage their Xbox library, access PC Game Pass, use cloud gaming, view achievements and chat with friends. The app is distributed through the official Xbox website and the Microsoft Store and supports Windows 11 version 22H2 or later. A native macOS version is not available, though Mac users can play supported Xbox games via Xbox Cloud Gaming in a browser.
According to reports, Microsoft plans to integrate an Xbox 360 emulator into the Xbox app for Windows 11, allowing classic Xbox 360 titles to run on PCs. The feature is expected to launch between 2027 and 2028, with developers able to opt‑in, set pricing and decide whether to include games in the Xbox Game Pass subscription. This move aims to blur the line between Xbox consoles and PCs, extending the Xbox gaming ecosystem to additional devices.
