Microsoft Extends Free Windows 10 Security Updates to October 2027
Microsoft announced that the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10 will continue until 12 October 2027, providing free critical security patches for eligible devices. The extension applies to users running version 22H2 of Windows 10 in the European Union, including Spain, without additional cost, and covers up to ten devices per Microsoft account. The move addresses the large installed base of Windows 10 machines that remain in use because of hardware costs, component shortages, and the TPM 2.0 requirement for newer operating systems. By prolonging support, Microsoft aims to keep these systems protected while users transition to newer hardware at a more manageable pace.
The extended coverage benefits both private users and small‑to‑medium enterprises that rely on Windows 10 for daily operations, reducing exposure to malware and other threats that would otherwise affect unsupported systems.
