Microsoft rolls out unified Copilot AI across Office, Excel and Dynamics 365

Microsoft has completed the global rollout of the Copilot Dynamic Action Button in Word and Excel, providing a single in‑app entry point for AI features and adding admin controls with Purview updates and server‑side protection against prompt‑injection data leakage. The update, which began in April 2026, is now fully deployed worldwide and will reach Government Community Cloud, GCC High and DoD environments by October 2026.

In parallel, the company has embedded its AI‑powered Copilot directly into the Microsoft 365 suite, allowing users to generate content, analyse data and automate workflows across Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Teams without separate licensing. The integration is designed to streamline routine tasks and boost productivity for the suite’s 344 million monthly active users.

Microsoft also launched Copilot Cowork, an autonomous AI agent that can execute multi‑step processes across Office applications, and introduced Copilot agents in Dynamics 365 that handle actions such as invoice matching, lead qualification and case resolution. These agents operate under predefined safeguards, with human oversight required for high‑value or compliance‑sensitive actions. Enterprise pricing for the new compute units starts at €200 for 10 000 CCUs, with pay‑as‑you‑go and volume options.
