Microsoft updates Windows 11 with security fixes and UI enhancements

Microsoft is implementing several updates and feature enhancements for Windows 11. A critical fix has been released for Microsoft Defender Antivirus (version 4.18.26080.4) to resolve a bug where the system incorrectly reported that the antivirus was deactivated, even though the service remained active and functional.

In terms of user experience, Microsoft is testing significant Start menu overhauls for Windows Insiders. These updates allow for greater customization, including the ability to adjust menu size (small, large, or automatic), hide specific sections like pinned apps or recent files, and rename the ‘Recommended’ section to ‘Recent’.

Additionally, Microsoft is addressing performance concerns. New features like the Low Latency Profile aim to improve responsiveness by briefly boosting CPU clock speeds during latency-sensitive tasks. Executives have also noted improvements in File Explorer speed and reduced latency in context menus to create a more fluid operating system experience.
