Xbox introduces Mythic Achievements for game completion
Microsoft has officially announced Mythic Achievements for Xbox, a new system designed to reward players for completing all original achievements in a game. This feature serves as a counterpart to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies, providing a visible mark of completion through a unique heroic frame in the user's achievement history.
To earn a Mythic Achievement, players must unlock all achievements that were included in a game's original release. Achievements added later via downloadable content (DLC) or updates are categorized as “add-on” content and do not count toward the Mythic status. Once earned, the status is permanent and cannot be lost if new content is added to the title.
The system is being rolled out initially to members of the Xbox Insider Program, with a wider release expected in the coming weeks. Notably, the feature is retroactive; players who have already completed eligible titles, including many from the Xbox 360 era, will automatically receive Mythic status for those games.
Alongside this update, Xbox is introducing a new Gaming tab on player profiles. This centralized hub allows users to track Gamerscore milestones, view completed games, and monitor progress toward upcoming Mythic Achievements. The tab also enables players to view the gaming achievements and Mythic status of their friends.
