Microsoft introduces Surface Laptop Ultra with magnetic USB-C charging
Microsoft has introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra, featuring a new Magnetic Connect technology. This innovation utilizes a magnetic USB-C port to provide a charging experience similar to Apple’s MagSafe, allowing the cable to detach easily if tripped over to prevent the device from being pulled off surfaces.
Unlike previous proprietary Surface Connect ports, this system uses the standard USB-C interface, ensuring that external drives and monitors remain compatible. However, the implementation occupies one of the laptop's USB-C ports during charging, leaving two additional ports available. The device is designed for content creators and is powered by an NVIDIA RTX Spark ARM-based chip.
Pre-orders for the Surface Laptop Ultra began on October 7 in the United States with a starting price of $2,600, and the device is scheduled for market release on October 16. The package includes both the magnetic USB-C charging cable and a 140W power adapter.
