Microsoft Intune adds native Windows registry reading to ease PC management

Microsoft has released a major update to its Intune device‑management service that enables automatic reading of the Windows registry on corporate PCs. Administrators can now define registry paths in the Intune property catalog and collect configuration values without writing custom scripts. The feature supports up to 100 registry keys per device, with each value limited to 6 KB, and works only on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive, excluding user‑specific keys and sensitive data such as passwords.

The new capability streamlines inventory of hardware and software settings, aids in tracking Secure Boot certificate renewal, DHCP parameters, and other system‑level configurations, and is intended to simplify frequent PC changes for employees, especially on Windows 11 devices.
