Microsoft launches Copilot Studio for low‑code AI agent creation

Microsoft has introduced Copilot Studio, a low‑code, natural‑language‑first platform that lets developers build and customize AI agents. The tool runs new agents on the GitHub Copilot harness and provides a unified authoring surface with tabs for Build, Preview, Evaluate and Monitor, plus a visual workflow designer that supports AI nodes, conditions and loops.

Agents are defined using plain‑language "skills" instead of explicit topics, and the lifecycle moves from creation through testing to production. Billing begins during the preview phase, and agents created before the August 3 update retain legacy pricing only until September 1. A demonstration shows how an agent can be called from a workflow, enabling deterministic processes to delegate tasks such as personalized message generation to an AI.

The update aims to accelerate agent development for makers seeking a faster, lower‑code experience while integrating with Microsoft 365 and other data sources.
