Microsoft launches global Copilot Cowork AI platform for enterprise automation

Microsoft announced the worldwide release of Copilot Cowork, an AI‑driven platform that automates complex business processes previously requiring continuous human oversight. After a limited trial with Fortune 500 firms, the service is now available to all Microsoft 365 Copilot customers, promising to reduce tasks that once took days or weeks to a matter of hours. Copilot Cowork can compare thousands of document versions, modify intricate spreadsheet files, and surface missed commercial opportunities by orchestrating multiple applications and data sources in the cloud.

The platform runs on Anthropic models such as Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6, with Frontier program members also able to tap GPT‑5, while Microsoft is developing its own optimized model, Cowork 1. Pricing is separated from the standard Microsoft 365 Copilot licence and is based on a “Copilot Credits” system that charges per task according to the AI model used, data volume and processing time. Administrators can set consumption limits and receive alerts. Integrations include partners like Miro, monday.com, Harvey, Morningstar and Moody’s, and the service supports web browsing via Edge within corporate security policies.
