Microsoft launches Snapdragon X2‑powered Surface Pro and Laptop in Malaysia

Microsoft announced that on 23 July 2026 it will begin selling new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models in Malaysia equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 processor. The 3‑nm chip features an NPU capable of up to 80 trillion TOPS for AI workloads and promises a 2‑3× improvement in graphics performance per watt over earlier generations. Battery life is projected at up to 20 hours for video playback on the 13.8‑inch Surface Laptop and 15.5 hours on the Surface Pro.

A Windows 11 2026 update (build 26300.8553) will let users uninstall selected local AI models, freeing more than 2.5 GB of storage. Microsoft Edge will receive version 150, adding a Google‑account sign‑in option and a redesign that removes sidebar apps. The company also highlighted MDASH, an AI‑driven vulnerability‑analysis service, and noted that its 2026 data‑center emissions report reflects expanded cloud capacity.

These announcements signal Microsoft’s push to shift AI processing from the cloud to devices, aiming for lower latency, reduced data‑transfer costs and stronger privacy controls for enterprise customers.
