Microsoft launches Surface Laptop Ultra with NVIDIA RTX Spark
Microsoft has announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, a high-performance notebook designed for intensive AI workloads and professional creative tasks. The device is powered by the NVIDIA RTX Spark N1X superchip, which combines an Arm-based NVIDIA Grace CPU with Blackwell RTX GPU architecture. Available in configurations with up to 128GB of unified memory, the laptop aims to run complex AI models locally rather than relying on the cloud.
The Surface Laptop Ultra features a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra Mini-LED touchscreen with up to 2,000 nits of brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. To compete with Apple’s MacBook Pro, Microsoft is offering a trade-in promotion in the US and Canada, providing up to $1,000 in additional cashback for users who switch from a MacBook Pro.
Alongside the laptop, Microsoft introduced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a desktop device priced starting at $5,999, intended for AI application development. Other manufacturers, including MSI, have also unveiled hardware utilizing the NVIDIA RTX Spark platform, such as the Prestige N16 Flip AI+ 2-in-1 convertible.
