Microsoft launches Topics Portfolio for Bing Webmaster Tools

Microsoft has introduced a new beta feature called Topics Portfolio within the AI Performance report of Bing Webmaster Tools. This tool is designed to help website owners understand their presence in AI-generated search results by grouping grounding queries into broader thematic clusters, such as football, taxes, or AI chatbots.

Unlike previous versions of the AI Performance dashboard, which focused solely on a site’s own citation activity, Topics Portfolio provides a competitive landscape. It allows publishers to see the approximate total citations across all sites for a specific topic, the number of sites cited within that theme, and the volume of distinct queries.

Crucially, the feature identifies “Top Opportunity Queries,” which are specific questions where competitors are cited but the user's site is not. This enables webmasters to identify gaps in their content and see where they have room to grow within the AI search ecosystem. The feature is currently in beta and provides rough estimates; smaller sites may not yet have sufficient data to access the tool.
