Microsoft, Marvell, and Utimaco launch Azure Payment HSM v2

Microsoft, Marvell Technology, and Utimaco have launched Azure Payment HSM v2, a cloud-native security platform designed for financial institutions and payment service providers. The service integrates Marvell LiquidSecurity hardware security module (HSM) technology with the Utimaco Atalla Payments Module and Microsoft Azure.

The platform aims to transition critical payment functions from expensive, specialized physical hardware to scalable cloud services. This allows banks and payment processors to secure transactions, protect sensitive data, and maintain cryptographic key sovereignty without the operational burden and capital costs of managing traditional dedicated infrastructure.

Azure Payment HSM v2 is designed to meet stringent PCI security, compliance, and audit requirements while providing the ability to scale security capabilities dynamically during peak periods. The service is currently in public preview in Western Europe and the Western United States.
