Microsoft modernizes Windows 11 mouse indicator feature

Microsoft is testing a modernized version of its mouse indicator feature in Windows 11 Experimental Build 26340. This tool, which helps users locate the cursor by pressing the Ctrl key, has remained largely unchanged since the Windows XP era.

The update introduces high-resolution visuals and smoother animations, addressing the low-resolution and jagged appearance found in previous versions. A significant addition is a “persistent” mode, which can be toggled using the shortcut Win + Ctrl + Shift + M. When active, the indicator remains on the screen until the user clicks, presses Esc, or uses the shortcut again, making it more useful for presentations, screen recordings, or users with visual impairments.

While the feature was discovered in a preview build and may require manual activation via tools like ViVeTool, Microsoft has not yet announced a specific release date for standard Windows 11 editions.
