Microsoft Power Apps Launches AI-Powered Receipt Organizer

Microsoft’s Power Apps platform now includes a mobile‑first receipt organizer that lets users capture a photo of a receipt, extract key data such as vendor, date, amount and category with an AI prompt, review the results, and send a complete expense package to accounting with a single button. The solution combines a Power Apps canvas app, Dataverse storage, Power Automate flows and the AI Builder receipt processor, and is designed to keep a human in the loop for OCR correction.

The app was built internally after a TMC Global employee experienced the friction of manual receipt handling. It creates a trip container, scans receipts, and generates an HTML email with attached receipts, streamlining reimbursement and reducing manual data entry. The current version supports U.S. English receipts and requires an existing expense‑management setup in the environment.
