Microsoft Power BI and Power Query add AI‑driven Copilot and advanced data‑shaping tools

Microsoft demonstrated how Copilot for Power BI can help teams understand and maintain semantic models when the original author is unavailable. In a walkthrough hosted by Guy in a Cube, the AI explains complex DAX measures, documents undocumented calculations, suggests naming conventions and validates whether a model can answer new business questions, reducing single‑person dependencies and improving governance.

Power Query, a core component of Power BI, also received a focus on its advanced transformation features. Guides highlight the Group By tool’s basic and advanced modes for multi‑column aggregation, the Replace Values utility for precise data cleaning, as well as Pivot Column, Split Column and Extract Text functions that streamline reshaping and extracting information from datasets. Together, these enhancements aim to accelerate data preparation and analysis for business users.
