Microsoft Refines Surface Lineup as Models Consolidate
Microsoft has streamlined its Surface portfolio, concentrating on two core families: the Surface Pro tablet series and the Surface Laptop notebook line. Both families now offer consumer and commercial variants, distinguished mainly by processor choice. Devices for consumers are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 chips, while business‑oriented models can be ordered with either Snapdragon X2 or Intel's latest Core Ultra Series 3 processors, the Intel versions costing roughly $300 more.
Several earlier Surface products have been discontinued, including the budget‑priced Surface Go range, the Surface Laptop Studio, the Surface Studio desktop, the Surface Book line, and the short‑lived Surface Phone series. Microsoft also hinted at a high‑performance Surface Laptop variant slated for release later in the year. Current pricing starts at $849.99 for the 12‑inch Snapdragon Pro, $1,499.99 for the 13‑inch Pro, and goes up to $1,949.99 for the Intel‑powered Business Pro model.
