Xbox July 2026 update adds 15‑character gamertags and UI overhaul

Microsoft rolled out a system update on 15 July 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. The patch expands unique gamertags from 12 to 15 characters, adds a poster‑style game library view with optional badge hiding, and introduces HEX‑based profile colour customization with automatic theme matching from avatars.

Social features now display mutual friends on profiles, and players can add titles to their wishlist directly from game cards. The update also brings cloud‑gaming refinements, improvements to the Xbox Accessories app, and a home‑screen panel for live service alerts and release notes, aiming to streamline navigation and personalization for all Xbox users.
