Microsoft releases management tools for Windows 11 26H2

Microsoft has released a new set of management tools for the Windows 11 26H2 update to assist IT administrators with enterprise deployment. The release includes updated Administrative Templates (ADMX) and a Group Policy Settings Reference spreadsheet.

The ADMX package, approximately 14.6 MB, allows administrators to manage registry-based Windows policies through familiar Group Policy interfaces. This enables centralized configuration for organizations managing large numbers of PCs. Additionally, the new reference spreadsheet allows users to filter through computer and user policy settings using Excel to assist in migration planning.

Key features in the 26H2 update include Administrator Protection, which uses just-in-time permission elevation to mitigate attack risks, and the integration of Sysmon (System Monitor) for enhanced threat detection via system event logging. Microsoft also updated Smart App Control, allowing users to enable or disable the feature without requiring a clean Windows installation.
