Microsoft releases new WSL stable and preview versions

Microsoft has released two new versions of the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). The stable version, 2.7.13, focuses on bug fixes, including a resolution for an issue where an MDE plugin error prevented WSL from starting. This update also includes the addition of the ‘wslc system info’ command and adjustments to the ‘wslc:alias -fan--format’ command to align with the Docker CLI.

Additionally, Microsoft has launched version 2.9.10 as a preview release for users interested in testing upcoming features. WSL serves as a virtualization and compatibility layer for Windows 10 and 11, allowing developers to run a full Linux environment, including command-line tools and applications, directly on Windows without heavy virtualization overhead.
