Microsoft releases Windows 11 26H2 update
Microsoft has officially released the Windows 11 26H2 update, also known as the 2026 Update. This version is being distributed via Windows Update and is designed to improve security, reliability, accessibility, and productivity.
Because the 26H2 version shares the same Germanium codebase as the 24H2 and 25H2 versions, the update is delivered as a lightweight enablement package. This allows for a faster installation process that typically only requires a single restart to activate features that are already present but dormant in the system.
Key new features include the ability to move the taskbar to the top, bottom, or sides of the screen. The rollout is being conducted in stages to ensure stability across different devices. Users must manually check for the update through the Windows Update menu in their system settings to install it.
