Microsoft releases Windows 11 beta adding customizable Start menu and new touchpad gestures
Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 Insider beta (build 26220.8925) introduces several user‑experience enhancements. The Start menu can now be resized, sections hidden, and profile details concealed, giving users more control over what is displayed. New touch‑pad gestures let users adjust scroll and zoom speed, enable accelerated scrolling, and perform edge‑scrolling with a single finger.
File Explorer now shows file sizes in simplified units (KB, MB, GB) and supports opening folders in a new tab via middle‑click. Accessibility improvements include HID‑compliant braille display support in Narrator, expanded Voice Access language options, and better background‑noise filtering. The update also previews features slated for the upcoming Windows 11 26H2 enablement package.
